linksys WMP11

Has anyone got the linksys WMP11 wireless desktop card to work with fedora yarrow? I would like to purchase a wireless desktop card and want to make sure of compatibilty before I buy. There must be some wireless options that work, please let me know of some working desktop wireless set-ups.

thanks,

Daniel

You might want to have this moved to wireless. Also, if you search the wireless forum you'll find lots of information about wireless cards. I personally use a Dlink DWL-AG650 card with a Linksys BEFW1154 router and madwifi drivers. It works perfectly for me.

desktop not laptop

Im looking for a desktop wireless card (pci) not a laptop wireless card (pcmcia) that fedora yarrow currently supports. I'm not concerned with the router either. Although I am very happy that your set-up works for your laptop this dosn't really help me. I have posted under the fedora distribution forum because that is the distribution that I use.

thanks,
Daniel

Sorry didn't catch the desktop part. You still might want to search under the Wireless forum. Wireless setups are distribution agnostic as they depend on the underlying software. Go to the madwifi page and you can find a number of cards what will work with that software. Also, you can search on the linux-wlan page for cards that will work with that software. Orinoco drivers support other cards. Also, if you do a simple search for wmp11 on this site you will see a ton of postings in the wireless forum.

Wink WMP11 rev4

Hi,

I just got my WMP11 rev 4 Linksys Wireless PCI card to work on my Dell Precision 22 workstation.
I run Red Hat Linux 7.3.

Do the following :
First check which version you with lspci .

This was the result on my machine

02:09.0 Ethernet controller: Unknown device 17fe:2120

The webiste from this chipset vendor is http://www.inprocomm.com.tw/

I have a rev 4 which contains the INPRO INP2120 chipset.

Next download the Windows driver of this WMP11 rev 4 card

Contact www.linuxant.com.
Install driverlaoder software ...

They solved my problem.I am really greatfull.I finally got my wireless card working.

I will buy a driverloader from Linuxant.

Cheers
Eddy
