Code:
yum provides libtiff.so.4
Actually, it might be yum provides yum provides libtiff.so

"libtiff.so.4" should be a symbolic link.

If the file is already on your system and you want to determine what package it belongs to with rpm you'll need the whole path. I usually use locate to find the file and path. Then follow up with
Code:
[jack@wagon ~]$ rpm -qf /usr/lib/libtiff.so.3
libtiff-3.9.4-1.fc13.i686
I don't have libtiff.so.4 on F13 or F14.

The way it sounds how the OP asked was how he is looking for it within a package. I may be wrong though. And for the record books, I use locate too in times like that. Very useful tool...

I agree, the question could have gone both ways so I added the bit about rpm.

These were some dependency RPM's I needed to install after installing Crossover-Pro.

So I was not sure what rpm's contained the dependency lib files that was required to install.

yum provides libfile did the job.

I tried rpm --provides libfile but that did not work.

Does anyone know how to run from the terminal a *.exe
program that has been installed by cxoffice, After installation of the windows program by cxoffice when you click on the Desktop Icon it is trying to start the application, the icon bounces around, but the application doesn't execute. It just times out.
