kmix system tray volume bar

A few questions.

1. When I click on the kmix system tray icon, instead of giving me the nice little bar where I can change the volume right there (like in windows), it pops up with the whole kmix window. It didn't do this when I had RedHat 9...has anybody else noticed this? Does anybody know how to change it so you just get the volume bar slider instead of the whole kmix window?

2. Does anybody know how to change the icon for the kmix system tray? That turquoise speaker is just plain ugly (note: I assume it's just as easy as copying over the icon I want, but I don't know where the original kmix icon is).

3. This question may need to go in another thread, but I thought I would throw it in anyway. The sound slider bar on MPlayer doesn't work (it works fine in XMMS)...is there some setting I need to change somewhere?

Oh yeah, I'm using FC2, 2.6.6 kernel (from up2date), and ALSA.

Thanks :)
