Smile Keyboard types characters at about 1 per sec KDE FC6

Hi all

The problem is on KDE FC6.

The main user somehow has changed something so you have to hold down keyboard key for maybe one second before it displays. Must be some setting that the kids changed when they were playing super tux or something.

Any other user or root or login is normal keyboard action. Thought it was the keyboard first until i logged in under the other three users and root and everything fine.

I have tried Control Centre/Peripherials/keyboard but all this does is turn the repeat on or off.

Is there a setting under .kde for that user that i can change and set the keyboard back to default.

Look forward to any help on this small but it got me stumped issue

Cheers

Gimmee

Hi there

Trial and error and some guess work. Backed up .kde/share/config and then started replacing each file from a user that keyboard worked until I found the culprit. Sort of did it like replaced all /config files and logged into user to see if it worked then copied back originals, then copied half of the config files etc until I had it narrowed. Certainly not efficient.

kaccessrc is the culprit file. I dont know how it gets changed or anything.
This is what it looked like under slow typing user. Had the [keyboard] part added somehow.

[Keyboard]
GestureConfirmation=true
Gestures=true
SlowKeys=true
StickyKeys=true

[Mouse]
MK-MaxSpeed=1000
MK-TimeToMax=5000
MKCurve=0
MKDelay=160
MKInterval=5
MKMaxSpeed=5
MKTimeToMax=1000
MouseKeys=false

And the normal keyboard user looked like this

[Mouse]
MK-MaxSpeed=1000
MK-TimeToMax=5000
MKCurve=0
MKDelay=160
MKInterval=5
MKMaxSpeed=5
MKTimeToMax=1000
MouseKeys=false

No keyboard slow entry here. Hope someone might be able to help me understand how this got changed.

Thanks

Gimmee

Thank you. I had the same problem.

I just had the following lines:

[Keyboard]
GestureConfirmation=true
SlowKeys=true

Deleted them and now the keyboard works fine. Anyway I don't know what changed it.

scratch my last

I found the answer in another thread...here it is:

go to control center>Regional & Accessibility>Accessibility>
find the "Keyboard Filters" Tab and you will see that the "Use Slow Key" box is checked which is why your typing became very slow.

Cheers!
down with Windows!
