kernel source on fedora core 5


hi,

I've just installed FC5, and i need the kernel source. I didn't find it in /usr/src , and i didn't find it
in the packages.
How can I install it?

If you haven't done any yum updating since installing:

1) Boot from your distro media dvd / cd

2) Select upgrade option

3) At package selection select the missing development options, kernel X Window etc

4) Let her rip


If you have already performed a yum update:

yum install kernel-dev*

followed by

yum update

to ensure all versions match

I don't know where FC5 keeps it -- you might try something like `locate vmlinux`, but you can always grab it from http://www.kernel.org/

Missed that post - Probably best to follow mickza's advice.
