kernel panic - not syncing attempted to kill init
I am trying to install Core 4 on my ASUS z71 laptop. I already have XP Pro. I used partition magic to partition the hard drive and I labeled the new partition X and gave it 17 gigs out of my 60 gid hard drive. When I try to install the OS. I get the message kernel panic - not syncing attempted to kill init. I'm not sure what is not syncing and how to sync whatever is not syncing. Has anyone experienced this type of message and what did you do to fix the problem?

1. what media source did u use for installing fc4, say: iso's from hd or burnt files from cd's/dvd's or from an ftp server??
2. when did "kernel panic" strike u, right the at moment of ininiation of the anaconda installer or of booting after an isntallation? ----- 1:for easier manipulations, pls install via cd's/dvd's 2: kernel panic is always caused by the failure in the system's attempts to inspect the hardware configuration and driver them into action and mounting the ext2/ext3 file system 3. try to check your hard disk geometry and find out whether there's something wrong your boot loader or grub conf and the file systems 4. search online for tips ------ try more and good luck |
