Kernel Panic
Hello all,
I am installing Fedora Core 1 X86_64 on a new HP Proliant DL145 server. I am installing plain vanilla from the .iso images from linuxiso.org. I am receiving this message during boot after a successful install of Fedora: CPU 0: Machine Check Exception: 0000000000000004 CPU 0: Machine Check Exception: 0000000000000004 Bank 0: b674200000000833 at 000000009be0c840 Kernel Panic: CPU Context Corrupt In interrupt handler - not syncing Consequently I receive this on the i386 version on Fedora also. :( My hardware setup is as follows: 1 AMD Opteron 1.6Ghz processor, 1 GB Advanced ECC PC2700 RAM, AMD 8131 Chipset, LSI logic LSI21320-R SCSI controller setup in RAID1 with 2 Maxtor 36 GB Atlas IV hard drives. I am running memtest86 as I type this without any errors but it is only 93% done. I can boot by passing "nocme" to the kernel at boot. What do you think the problem may be? Is there an issue with any of my hardware not being comaptible with Fedora? Thank you for your help. |
I have run into kernel panics with RH9 on several Proliant boxes. In several cases I have been forced to go into the BIOS and disable hyperthreading (although I have not worked specifficly with the DL145's), but it may be worth looking into.

Unfortunately the DL145 is AMD Opteron based so it does not have hyperthreading. I will look at some of the BIOS settings and see what I can come up with. Thank you for you post.

did you ever resolve this problem? I'm getting the same thing on RHEL4 on a DL145 G2
