kernel or hdd error ?

hi,

yesterday i´d some quaint error messages during boot.

Buffer I/O error on device hda1, logical block 1
Buffer I/O error on device hda1, logical block 2
....
This continues for some while.

After the 5th or 6th manual reboot, my box boots up normal and all seems ok!?...
Any ideas? Kernel or HDD problem (Maxtor 120GB IDE)

badblocks -vs /dev/hda

shows 0 damaged blocks!....

I would suspect a hard drive that is defective, it will cause numerous errors, because the data is not readable from bad blocks/sectors.

I just purchased a new Maxtor 120gig 8meg cache to replace a failing drive myself.
