Kernel Issue: Autoconf.h

Hello. I've been trying to upgrade my stock Fedora core 1 kernel to 2.4.27 from

When I attempt to make modules, I get the following:

make[2]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/src/linux-2.4.27/include/linux/autoconf.h', needed by `/usr/src/linux-2.4.27/include/linux/modules/signal.ver'. Stop.

I have Googled and searched LQ to no avail. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!
