kernel error, BUG?

Hi people,

i'm having some problems with my computer.

i use smb to mount a share from a server running debian. on the client is FC4 running.

from time to time, amarok crashes (music is in the samba sharing mounted into my home) and i can't umount the sambasharung anymore (with umount -f /path/2/samba_sharing)

i don't know where the problem is, maybe it is a samba problem maybe a problem from the kernel... what it's all abbout?

then, this error comes to the screen (taken from /var/log/messages):

is this a known issue with the kernel you are using?

have you tried using a different distro to see if it does it also?

are your specs ok for what you are trying to do (ie push samba with music)?

good luck.

good idea... i'm going to try with other distro.. maybe knoppix. somehow it has to do with the xserver. sometimes it takes just too long to start...

it is really strange.

thank you!!!

halvy 01-13-2006 05:36 PM

knoppix is the LAST distro you want to 'install'.

it's primary purpose is a rescue, show off to your friends disk.

yes you can install it, but trust me, it is not worth it for serious, hardcore stuff. there will always be bugs and issues.

build your own debian... you wont be sorry.
