kernel-2.6.17-1.2139_FC5 disables working wireless..??

I thought this kernel was supposed to have built in wireless support natively.? RaLink RT2500 can not even be found in the network settings. On top of this the script provided by serielmonkey no longer even works since it can not find the modules for 2.6.17.x.

So from my experience on this machine - just stay with 2.6.16-1.2133_FC5 instead of kernel-2.6.17-1.2139_FC5 if you have an RaLink based card that is working. I have not tried the broadcom drivers on my laptop, since with this updrage it was just simpler to use the older kernel.

Any other experiences with this new kernel and wireless working/not-working? I went the easy way and used YUM update.

I may try again in July, since I am in summer finals at the moment, so I definitely do not have time to see if I can get the wireless working on the new kernel.

Quick update - download the latest CVS tarball. That seems to work when I saved it to my USB key under windows and logged into root. All of the "old" instructions" functioned. ie: make, make install, modprobe rt2500

continue to setup in netwoirk manager. I shall assume the rt2500 is not included natively in this new kernel. I assumed that it was...
