keeps asking to setup printer

I have my printer setup and working fine. Whenever I boot, it always tells me that I have a USB printer plugged in and need to load the driver. The problem is the driver isn't on the list provided. I have 2 questions.

How can I stop it from asking me

or How can I get the driver into the right directory so it shows up on the list.

Thanks.

I am running FC4 and the printer is a Brother MFC5440CN which I had to go to their site to get the drivers.

Hi Tim you say the printer works fine so I assume you are loading the module after boot with modprobe printer_module_name. If so then open then file /etc/modules for editing as root and put the printer_module_name on a line by itself and it will be loaded every time at boot and the warning will go away.

Thanks for the suggestion but I am not that advanced yet.

I downloaded the rpm's from Brother and followed the directions and everything worked fine. When I reboot, this window comes up just like in WindowsXP when you plug in new hardware. If it gave me the option to point to the right driver I could probably fix it but it doesn't give me the option. When I get back home, I will post the screen shot of what comes up.

You may want to try installing the PPD file for your printer instead. Installation instructions can be found at the link below. Also I would make sure the printer is connected directly in to the computer rather than say for example, in a USB hub as this can cause some issues with Brother Drivers.

Hope this helps.
