KDE Install after System setup with gmoe only in F9

Hi,

I have installed fedora 9 and have the Gnome install but I didn't install KDE as a desktop. I tried looking in the DVD and installed what I thought was the KDE package.

However I still do not see the option to start the session in KDE rather than Gnome.

How or what do I need to get the loggin screen etc to be KDE login rather than Gnome as it appears that Gnome being at such a new development stage the tools to work on the login doesn't appear to be done or finished.

I have to admit of being a noob,

I always seem to gravitate back to fedora as for me it always seems to pick everything up I have and well just seems to run better on my system.

Fedora8 was such a polished version I am finding F9 slightly confusing.

Cheers for all the help peopleo n here have givien me.

Doug

If you start the computer did you get a login screen ?
If so you can choice by session type for Gnome or KDE.
If not DISABLE the autologin to get a login screen you can to this by users permissions

Doug,

The gotcha I noticed here is that the session option is at the very bottom of the screen and not on the login box. It has been a few weeks but look around for it and it should be there.

If not use YUM or your CD/DVD to be sure KDE is installed:

# yum groupinstall "KDE (K Desktop Environment)"

Finally you can install switchdesk and force it also by running that from the CLI or GUI.

# yum install switchdesk

Hi

So I got KDE 4 installed and it's working, however I cannot now load any themes it just says not a themes package.

after install which I found in /root/.kde/xxx/Themes/Tux-Maina/

Doubled check the path and everything. but still the crappy Gnome login.

Any clues anyone?

Cheers

Doug
