KDE fedora - login defaults to startx and not startkde

When I log in without choosing the session,
The default is just the result of startx, and so to start kde
I have to select KDE from the session everytime.

How do I set KDE as default?

I start my KDE manually so I'm not sure if this would work, but what about moving startx to startx_original and symlink startkde to startx ?

hmm... I really want just to be able to edit the entry at the login screen,
so that KDE is the default sesssion...

I guess I could add startkde like that too

(by the way athlon is spelt wrong!)

I'm a bit out of my league now since I use Slackware and I start X11 manually with xinit which reads the windowmanager from xinitrc and never prompts for a session type.

(It's not any more thanks)

To change displaymanagers add the following to /etc/sysconfig/desktop

DESKTOP="KDE"
DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"

or simply type

bash# echo 'DESKTOP="KDE"'> /etc/sysconfig/desktop && echo
'DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"' >> /etc/sysconfig/desktop

You could do "switchdesk kde" as normal user and KDE will become your default session.
