Just installed FC8 Now scan rate out of limits

I just downloaded and installed FC8 and the install seems to have gone OK (no errors) but on reboot my monitor says the scan rate is out of limits and I have no display. Where do I go to set a more generic scan rate from terminal mode? Thanks for the help.
