Issue copying data files from CD

I've been using FC2 for about a week now and have notice this strange issue copying data files from CD. Basically, the copying process will stall and I'll get a message "Unable to copy files" would you like to skip or cancel. It's intermittent, but it especially happens when copying large files (100 MB) or more at a time.

I have 2 different CD-ROMs (one Sony and one Iomega) and I never had any problems with Redhat 9 previously. I also tried a different IDE cable.

Has anyone heard of this problem?

you must have a permissions problem somewhere.............
your /dev/cdrom or /mnt/cdrom must have been changed to
read only somehow.........???

If I had permission problems wouldn't I not be able to copy files all the time. Why can't I copy files part of the time and rest of the time it is fine. I'm a newbie, but I'm guessing there might be some type of buffering setting somewhere that's causing this. Like I said, I never had this problem with Redhat 9 using the same CD drives and the same CDs.

It is possible that the cd's you run into problems with were burned at a higher speed. I've had similar problems lately with one of my boxes here at the office. Lastnight as a matter of fact I burned a cd at 1/8 speed (6x) and this one works like a charm.

I would suggest trying that as a temp fix. I really think there is an issue though with FC2. I had problems w/ the cd's during install pre/post but only the ones that were burned at higher speeds (these same cd's work fine on other machines).

Something to try anyways.
