I'm a little confused you say "listed as ethernet" , I assume you mean it won't setup under wireless, but it will
under ethernet ?
If it wants to setup as eth1, that's okay.
do you have enough information about your AccessPoint modem that you can use a editor and setup
a /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 ? using my ifcfg-eth1 as a format? If so try that.
I'm sorry I did not get back to you sooner , but I crashed my email computer last night and
had to setup email on another linux box.

Ill try to make my ifcfg-eth1 file like yours, but I have a problem. Im not sure how to find the mac address of my wireless card. I guess its a pretty simple problem, but Im just not sure how to do it.

EDIT:

I guess normally it would show up under iwconfig or ifconfig, but Its not recognizing eth1 as a device, so it doesnt show up.

the only difference in my setup and yours is that your using ipw2100-0.49 and I'm using ipw2100-0.46. plus different
kernel.
go back and look at your modprobe.conf file for typo errors, alias eth1 ipw2100 .
And if you do a /sbin/lsmod and the three before mentioned modules are loaded
there's no reason why it does not work.

Using your /menu/Systems Tools/More System Tools/ File Manager SU mode.
goto /var/log/messages and delete it and then reboot computer and go back to /var/log/messages and
highlight everyting there and do a copy and then paste it into a email and send to me. it maybe to big to
post to LinuxQuestions forum, but you can try
