Installing TrueType fonts in Fedora 3
Can anyone tell me if they have done this?
I did the following - 1. created directory /usr/local/fonts/ttf 2. copied a whole bunch of .ttf files to it 3. cd /usr/local/fonts/ttf ttmkfdir > fonts.scale mkfontdir 4. /usr/sbin/chkfontpath -a /usr/local/fonts/ttf 5. rebooted After all that none of the applications (OpenOffice, GIMP, KWord, etc) can see the new fonts. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Stephen Ng |
I did the following:
I opened two Nautilus windows ('home' icon on desktop) In the first, I surfed to the location of my windows fonts. In the second I typed "fonts:///" in the location bar. Then I selected the fonts I wanted and did a drag and drop to the fonts directory. Log out, log in, ready! |
Thanks for replying.
I reread the Release Notes and found the answer!! Oops!! All I did was copy the fonts to ~/.fonts and it worked. Stephen |
