installing ndiswrapper

Hi,I just installed ndiswrapper-1.53 on Fedora Core 6 and I'm using

http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/j...,installation/ as a guide. I'm at the point where I have to load the module. I first used the command depmod -a; I didn't get any errors. They when I type modprobe ndiswrapper; my computer freezes. Am I doing something wrong? I am doing a dual boot with Windows if that makes a difference

I've tried using ndiswrapper on ubuntu before, and it froze too when loading the module, I have no idea why. Have you tried the drivers from linuxwireless.org? It worked for me (I have an intel pro 3945bgn card)
Good luck

Make sure you are not trying to install two drivers. You check this by in terminal as root type ndiswrapper -l. That will give you a list of the driver or drivers.

I was only installing 1 driver. But since then I decided to install Fedora Core 9 with kernal 2.6.25-14 fc9.i686. I extracted ndiswrapper-1.53, then changed to the ndiswrapper directory. I then tired to run "make distclean" and I got an error:
Makefile23:*** Kernal tree not found- please set KBUILD to configure kernal.

What is this and how do I do that? I tried to use MAN pages but nothing generated

You may not need a driver or ndiswrapper, the newer kernels come with drivers for some of the chipsets. I can not help you on what is supported and what is not.

I just tried typing ifconfig and it said command not found, I tried typing iwconfig and the same thing happen as well as lspci. I remembered when I download fc9 it took 6 disc, but when I installed it it only took disc 1-5. I know that there is a package folder on disc 6. Could this be the reason?

Fedora is a distro I have not tried, you should be able to look in a package manager and see what is installed and if you decide to install any other programs it will ask you for the disk if they are on it. Some where in the menu there should be network setup. It would tell you if your card is recognized and if the kernel comes with the driver you should be able to install from there.
