Installing Modules & init.d

I have the open source drivers for my Netgear MA521 wireless card installed and working.

First question: When I start my laptop, I have to run the insert_module script that was provided with the drivers to actually get my card to show up in ifconfig -a. Every single startup, I have to run this script. Is there a way to get theese modules inserted at startup, and on every startup automaticaly?

Second Question: I have a custom script I run to set my essid and channel. How would I get this to run before fstab mounts the remote samba shares? I have the fstab file working just perfectly, but its useless untill I can get the above step and this second step done.

I tried copying the modules to /etc/modules (I had to make the directory), but nothing happened. So I tried copying them to /lib/modules/2.6.9-1.667/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/, and nothing happened either. locate -r ".*\.ko$" shows that all my drivers are in /lib/modules/2.6.9-1.667/kernel/drivers/. What should I try next?

About first question, you can add driver script with full path to it in /etc/rc.local for example. When your system boots, your card will be initialized without needing to configure it manually.

Well, I have lazy mans solution to second question too, just put your custom script to /etc/rc.local after card script. You can also add mount lines for SMB shares here.

Another possibility for 'proper' installation: check out what modules will be loaded with /sbin/lsmod after running driver script and use /sbin/modprobe to load them up. Check out /etc/modprobe.conf and corresponding manual page how things are set up.
