Installing GAIM

Hello everyone,
I am used to mandrake and I recently installed Fedora Core 2. I downloaded an RPM for GAIM and in mandrake I would just have to double click it, thats not the case in Fedora though, how do I do this?

not really...

If the "control center" you speak of is similer to SuSe's YaST (which it probably is), then no, not that I know of. This is one thing that I didn't really like when I switched from SuSe to Fedora. But in Fedora, everything normally accesible from such " control centers" is located in the "System Tools" and "System Settings" menus under the hat.

One of the easy ways to get GAIM is to install synaptic and it will take care of all the dependencies that are necessary for the prog operation. And to get synaptic as root type:

yum install synaptic

yum is a program that comes with FC2, synaptic will be accessible from your menu window in systems setting i think.

I hope that helps, plus with synaptic you have access to lots of softwares and tools you might need.

Exclamation It's already there (sort of)!

Fedora Core 2 comes with GAIM, so by far the easiest way to install it is to use Add/Remove Applications and install from the CD.
