Installing Fedora core 7 x64

I recently upgraded my computer with a 3.4Intel pentium 4 cpu and an abit vt-7 motherboard. Both used from ebay. I also installed a new dual layer DVD RW . I downloaded the complete large size program and wrote it to a DVD-R. I have 2 hard drives one for linux and one for windows. The DVD-R holds 120min.4.7 GB. I did download the system for intel.
I had fedora core 5 on this hard drive a 32bit dist. I install the cd and boot from the cd-rom. It says the cpu won't support this program use a 32 bit dist. I thought it was reading the other program and used a maxtor powermax dos program and wiped the drive.
It still says the cpu won't support it. I checked the bios and the motherboard says it is a hyperthreading cpu. I installed fedora core 5 x64 on an athlon system and didn't have any problem.
Does anybody have any ideas.

it's very possible that intel cpu isn't 64-bit capable! as far as I know, there aren't any 64-bit capable s478 cpu's. intel added 64-bit support with the 6xx series and that's for lga-775. hyperthreading was around even before intel started the model number nonsense and doesn't have anything to do with 64-bit capability.

I have a Pentium 4® 650, which is em64 3.4GHz. The earlier models (500) series did not have em64 technology, you probably have the 550 model. There is a way of finding out with the numbers on the core and searching Intel® site, but it's not an easy site no navigate. Both have hyper threading.

I'm going to do more research but I think your correct in that it isn't a 64 bit box. I had a athlon x64 2 gig that is probably as fast as this unit.
