Installing Apache 2.0.x on Fedora Core 6

Hello,

I am trying to install Sun ONE ASP 4.0.2 on a fresh install of Fedora Core 6.

Sun ONE ASP 4.0.2 works with Apache 2.0.x, which is included with the installer, but I'd prefer it if the Fedora version of Apache (2.0.x) could be used, because it's more neatly installed onto the system.

Fedora Core 6 however comes with a 2.2.x Apache version instead. Is there an Apache 2.0.x RPM, some Yum command or would I have to compile the whole thing from source (in which case I wonder if it'll be installed neatly)?

I guess installing older versions of software than those in the Fedora repositories is tricky because I can hardly find threads where this seems to have been achieved, but I guess it can't hurt to ask.

Thanks for your attention,
Maarten

Could try a RHEL-alike Apache like CentOS' httpd-2.0.46-61.ent.centos3.i386.rpm

I didn't know they were that similar, but I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

Well, they're not, and it'll be missing the SELinux rules, but it's worth a shot.

Well, I took another approach. I installed CentOS 4.4 with the mentioned package for the required older Apache version. On Fedora this package requested a number of dependencies as well.

httpd-2.0.46-61.ent.centos3.i386.rpm

With dependencies for CentOS:
compat-db-4.1.25-9.i386.rpm
compat-libcom_err-1.0-5.i386.rpm

Sun ONE ASP 4.0.2 works now, including the administration console. I'll just not be updating anything anytime soon.

Edit: just realised that CentOS 4 uses Apache 2.0.54.
