Install K3B in FC2
Would like to install K3B from add/remove packages in FC2 . Very new to FC2.
"packages not found" message. I guess I need to install kernel headers.
What is the command for this and will they be on the CD's or is it a download?
Once I have that installed, there are about 10 packages to install. Are these also on the CD's.
Can they all be installed at once?
Is k3b on the install cd's.
thanks for any help

k3b
According to the yum help guide, I should be pulling hair out.
#yum install k3b
error getting file http://dwnld.fed.rh..com/pub/fed/lin...rs/header.info
this is looking for something to download.
Is the kernel headers a download / I have dialup. If it's big I may not be able. Why does the add/remove packages utility say that my kernel sources are installed?
thanks

You need to configure yum if you haven't done so for it to find and locate the packages from the internet.
See How do I get all the latest stuff for Fedora using apt/yum?
Make sure you replace the variables $basearch and $releasever to reflect your cpu (i386 will probably give more packages than i686) and Fedora core release.
Package kernel-headers is a separate package than kernel-sources, however I can't locate that particular package in my FC1 installation, but I can in Gentoo. <shrug>
I recommend a re-install using the "upgrade" and expert, then, the dependencies should be resolved and k3b should install OK. This will just install the new stuff you need, BTW. I suspect a lot of the KDE desktop environment would be needed, so that would save download time.

kernel-source install
Yep, I'm pretty sure that it wants the source. I am now officially freaked out cause I installed an Intel 536ep internal modem on both MDK10.0 AND fedora core 2 and both installs require the kernel sources to be installed.
Here's what I can't figure out. I successfully installed the modem(I know 'cause I kept a log of it)
How did I do that without the ksources? Wow I'm really confused now!
....anyway, I dwnloaded the updated yum.conf file and it's still asking to resolve a host in order to find the ksource.
have tried
yum install kernel-source
yum install kernel-sourcecode
rpm kernel-source
.......no luck
The first time i installed FC2 i chose the default install.
This last time, I did custom so I could select the KDE desktop. Is it possible that the ksources are installed in the default setup and not the custom?
I am in the process of evaluating distros and I remember I had dual boot issues, browser resolve issues, and now to find out that the ksources are not installed by default.....really sours my view on FC2.
any help
thanks
