Install Fedora on PPC (Power PC) Mac

I am trying to run Fedora on my PPC Mac. The mac has a broken internal CD rom drive. I do have a external one but I don't know how to boot it from the external CD drive. I also tried using a backup program called Superduper! (Superduper! is designed to make a bootable backup) but that just copped the Fedora files to my usb without makeing it bootable.

As SuperDuper copies files to the usb device, the dialog will show, near the end of the backup, that it is making the device bootable. After the files are copied, you can check that it has completed this step by checking the log on SuperDuper (Window --> show log).

Make sure you have copied all the files from your hard drive to the usb drive. Then with the usb drive plugged in, reboot holding down the "option" key? You should see the usb drive as a bootable device, and selecting it will alow your machine to boot from it.

I know this works, because I have done it many times. If it doesn't work for you, try moving the cable to another usb port on your computer.

I tried that but when I held down the OPTION key it only showed the Macintosh HD and nothing else and I was wondering if it is possible to boot from the external CD/DVD drive.

will the mac boot from a std usb thumb drive

there is a fedora thumb install and also a "net" install -- it might be available in ppc

but seeing as mac moved to the intel chip there is NO fedora 13 ppc
there is a fedora 12
http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/pub...Fedora/12/ppc/
BUT in 5 months the fedora 12 hits END OF LIFE
there will be no further updates to it after that

i would look for a different distro to use

I decided to use Debian net install and copy it with SuperDuper!. It still did not make the device bootable. It may be because since SuperDuper! can't open ISOs I had to mount the image and then copy from the mounted image or the format may have been incorrect (I used Mac OS Extended (Journaled)). UNIX format may work better but I don't know if SuperDuper! supports UNIX formatted devices.

Ok now all I need is a way command to "bless" the USB drive.
Would this work?
bless --folder /Volumes/USB drive/

I am still trying to boot from the external drive. I put in my Fedora disk in the external CD/DVD drive and then turned on my computer while holding down option it gave me a list of drives to boot on. My computers hard drive showed up and a CD icon with the tux icon. I clicked on the cd icon and then pressed the go arrow. The screen turned black and then entered the boot list again. The icons looked odd and I couldn't click on them.
