Inserting a CD into CD-R Drive Locks Up System
I recently installed Fedora Core 3 on my system. I have gotten everything working with the exception of my CD-R drive. The system recognizes the drive and I can even eject it without problems. However, when I put a CD into the drive (blank or regular) the system attempts to mount the drive and then locks up. It appears there is no way to recover short of a power cycle.
Has anyone experienced such a problem? Can you tell me what processes Fedora Core 3 runs when a CD is inserted into the dirve? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Andy |
which process is run may depend on the graphical environment you use (seriously) if its gnome, I think its done with hald or something like that.
kde uses another program. If I were you I'd troubleshoot why its locking up, not how you can keep it from automounting. |
Running GNOME
I am indeed running GNOME. I guess I should look into hald to see what it is doing and why it might be locking up the system. Does anyone have any ideas?
