Id "X" respawning too fast
I using Fedora 3 and doing a GRID Computing project. After executing a graphics application program
when booting the system got the message
INIT: Id "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 min.

I can log only in single mode. in init 3 i got the login prompt. but i am not able to login as any user. ( After giving the user name & passwd return to the login prompt)

What does this mean, and how do I make it work.

I had a similar problem after running up2date and selecting all available packages, but I can still get the root logon. I think my X system is corrupr because one of the messages during booting refers to

/usr/bin/rhgb where libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 cannot be found.

A google search on this suggests that it is part of one of the updated packages: gtk2-...

Is it possible to fix this problem by installing/unpacking the correct .rpm file?
How can this be done?
