I did a clean install of FC8 on PC which had FC6 before, I saved the old .thunderbird folder from FC6.
How do I use the "Import" tool in thunderbird, FC8 to import the old FC6 thunderbird mail , address book ?
I physically moved the old address book into the FC8 thunderbird and it wouldn't accept that.
I think the import function is for getting stuff from other programs, I've never had any luck using it to import from old thunderbirds.
If you haven't got any new stuff in your new thunderbird, the easiest way is to change the new .thunderbird folder to .thunderbirdbackup then just paste the old .thunderbird file in.
That way you'll have everything from the old version.
If you just want the address book it's in the default folder and is called "abook.mab" you could just replace the new one with the old one.
Why, when you Copy/Burn ~/user to a DVD it changes the "Permissions" on the
Files ?
I had to go into .thunderbird and change permissions to read/write on all the files for "owner" , they where changed to read only for owner.
This was the FC6 .thunderbird I burnt to a DVD.
