i386 or x86_64 system, which I should choose?

I wonder if the 64 bit build linux is working much faster than 32 bit... it should! I am a computer constructor here in my town, and I become sick an tired about MS win and the NWO that MS Corp. trying to make. That's why I started to learn by my own how to install Linux, and to find out how it is actually working.(better later than never ) Being a musician, I use sound editors and right now I wondering if I could use programs with sound compilers like I used under XP, but buildet for Linux. RIght now while I'm typing, the 64 bit Fedora Bordeaux 5 is downloading, and I'm gonna change the 32 bit that is allready installed. Is there a difference on this, or just the compiler has a longer structure? We'll see that !
So, here is my "oldie" computer:
CPU= AMD Athlon 64 3000+
MB= Asus A8V deluxe
RAM= 2X512M STT in dual channel
VGA= nVidia GeForce FX5500/256M/128bit
CD-ROM= Sony CDU5231
DVD-RAM= LG GSA4163B
HDD= 2X Seagate 120&80 Gb with 2M cache
... and peripherials
Any answers are welcome!
THX for LINUX and for everybody who's working on to be better!

Regarding x86_64

hey looking at ur system config, i would personally suggest x86_64.

As u say that ur are downloading one. The linux download iso (specially red hat as i always use redhat) follow the following convention.

x86.iso for x86 (intel like processor)

ppc.iso for power PC (Apple Architecture)

x86_64.iso for 64-bit processors be it from AMD or intel..

But all the fedora core's are implicitly optimised for Pentium's.

But u need not worry, u have AMD 64, it will also work fine indeed good.

Regarding your pasion for music u can find various site for audio editing.

check for alsa-project.org or search in www.google.com/linux

As usualy on 64 bit base operating sistems, there is still a lack of drivers...so I have to wait a bit more untill I'm gonna use Fc5-x86_64... so....back to i386

Since your'e a musician and is interested in software-soulutions for your needs, I have a suggestion for you. I'm a musician too (guitarist), and found long time ago a Fedora-distro that is taylored for music-production. I've been using it with great results. I recommend you to check it out yourself.
Here's the web-address:
