i386 and x86_64

I just installed Fedora 7 on my AMD64 Athlon. I installed yumex so I can update my system graphically. I have noticed that I have almost all packages duplicated, one for i386 and one for x86_64. Should I remove the i386 packages by hand? Or are they important for some other functions?

Thanks in advance,

Fedora includes 32bit libraries and support for 32bit applications if you so choose to install any. Those files are needed, they are part of a dependency group where you'll probably end up removing the 64bit version also if you remove the 32bit stuff.

but I tried to remove the i386 packages via yumex. I did not intend to make any changes but I wanted to see if I was going to remove any x86_64 packages. No x86_64 dependecy(ies) were highlighted for removal. I did not remove anything yet, though.
