I saw that FC2 has a new kernel update kernel-2.6.6-1.427.i686.rpm.

I saw that FC2 has a new kernel update kernel-2.6.6-1.427.i686.rpm, does any one know if this fixes the stack problem with nvidia display drivers?

Smile Kernel 2.6.6

I'm not sure about nVidia, but the new kernel made my Radeon perform as good as on Windows. With the old one, I had a serious performance lag. Look it up though, I'm sure it's been fixed. You can check here for the changelog. It's kind of cryptic so take a little time.

Fedora has no intentions of "fixing" the 4kstacks... the ball is in nvidia's court at this point... FYI 4kstacks will ultimately became standard in 2.6 at some point and Fedora's choice to implement it now was decided based on the 4kstack decision made upstream in kernel development. Nvidia has stated they are working on new drivers but no release date as of yet... supposedly a few weeks is as exact as they offer.

See here for some gossip on 4kstacks and the kernel:

I am curious about the new 2.6.6 kernel from Fedora. If you compile a custom kernel from the Fedora Core 2.6.6 source can you disable the 4K Stack now because their wasn't an option for it in the original 2.6.5 kernel that was released with Fedora Core 2.

By the way they released kernel-2.6.6-1.435 yesterday as an update.

If I want to build a custom kernel from Fedora's 2.6.6 kernel source, how do I do it???

I downloaded the 2.6.6-1.435.src.rpm

When I install it, it puts the 2.6.6.tar and dozens of patches in /usr/src/redhat/...

How do I get a kernel source TREE with all the fedora patches, so I can run make and build my own?

(I know how to do it with the kernel.org tars, but I want to use the Fedora ones.)

Thanks!

Which, of course, means 2.6.7 will be out any minute. Oh, wait a minute... What's that on Slashdot?
