However I do get an error about not being able to start plugins and here's the output from terminal;
[root@localhost Sean]# opera
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libjvm.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libawt.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
Session management error: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed
I recall getting those same errors, but the program worked so I ignored them just as it did. You can create your own launcher for the menu if it doesn't end up there. Sometimes they'll randomly show up after a reboot or a short period of time. You might want to check it again.
I right click on Opera in the Applications Menu and it says 'add this launcher to panel' which I select. It then put a shortcut in the panel at the top (I also have a panel at the bottom of the screen). Except this shortcut has no icon (replaced by a questionmark).
Yes, I can. I've given it the firefox icon, since the Opera.png isnt avaialble. There's no google results for the error "failed to load opera.png" either.
Why when I type "yum search opera", do I get no results, but when I type "yum install opera", I get a program installed? Also, I uninstalled Opera, and reinstalled to see if it would fix problems but now it doesn't appear in the Internet menu, and typing 'Opera' in the terminal does nothing "command not found". I think this is how things were initially the first time I installed it. Restarting hasn't changed anything though.
So a repository is a fixed number of programs that are deemed suitable by the Fedora Core developers, and yum can only search in this list? When I say "yum install opera", what exactly is it installing then? Whatever it is, it's 1.2 Mb.
I'll check updatedb and I'll install from the Opera website. Thanks.
