HP dc7800 Ultra Slim Desktop

Hi

Planning to get a new desktop for my linux purposes.
Was looking at HP dc7800 Ultra Slim Desktop. I can see that they offer a configuration with FreeDOS too which is what I require as I intend on installing Fedora Core 7 (or/and Ubuntu 7.10).

Processor : IntelR CoreT2 Duo Processor E6850
Operating system : FreeDOS
Chipset : IntelR Q35 Express
Memory type : 2GB DDR2-Synch DRAM PC2-5300 non-ECC
Hard disk drive : 160 GB SATA 3.0 Gb/s
Optical drive : PATA DVD+/-RW (DL/DF) LightScribe Slim Drive

When asked in the HP Biz forum, I got a reply that
Quote:

Linux is not a supported operating system on the dc7800 models therefore any drivers that you will require will need to come from the Linux community not HP.
This is odd. Does this mean that Linux (FC7 esp) may not function properly here ?

Thanks

It's possible the audio driver, onboard video card driver, or other relevant motherboard drivers may not be readily available for that series. In actuality what they were saying is you can't visit HP's website and download the linux drives you need. It's not to say you wouldn't be able to install Fedora and everything work perfectly. I have the same chipset and processor model running at home and Fedora 7 works fine.
