How would I share the X:0 desktop with the local display using fedora core 2?

I currently have a Core 2 server that I remote log into.

I need to be able remotely login and edit the local user's desktop I.E the person sitting there at the boxes terminal.

I don't need to have both users use it at the same time I just need to be able to edit and once I am finished have whatever I had up on my vnc terminal display on the remote machine once I am finished.

for example I would log in remotely and run a power point that would loop then log off.

changing the OS is not an option.

also I've tried to use x0vncserver but have no idea how it works

every time I try to login using it on port 5998 it gives me auth failure
