How to Reconfigure the entire system......
HI all,
I am using Fedora Core 2 which i had installed on a config. AMD 1600+ ATI Radeon 9500 KT266A MOBO Now i carried my hard disk and hv connected to a new system rig: Pentium 4 3Ghz Intel 865 mobo with integrated Video card. Can i use the same installed FC2 with the new rig. I can only log into the prompt, when i execute a command "Startx" it doesnt go into GNOME GUI. The problem is that i cant install FC2, bcoz i am missing my CD1. So plz let me know if i can Reconfigure my system for FC2 without installing the FC2 again. Thanks for ur upcoming advices. Have a Nice day............. |
I believe you can boot up and then edit the .conf settings. It should prompt you to remove configuration or save the new settings. Does this help?
|
yes you can use it. you just have to reconfigure X. use xorgcfg or xorgconfig. fc2 is xorg right? you don't need the cd's.
|
i didnt find Xorg command in the prompt, hence not able to execute but i did run :'Xorg'
Now it updated a file 'xorg.conf.new' but it doesnt update the anaconda bcoz it show my old cfg, I used 'startx' but it shows no screen found. ' |
when i try startx with new xorg.sonf.new it gives me a FATAL ERROR : Noscreens Found

you can look in /usr/X11R6/bin and look for stuff with cfg and config in the name and try to run those.
