How to fix DNS on a file

Hi folks,

My FC3 workstation is connected to 1.5Mb broadband via an ADSL modem, running on dynamic IP. Each time on connecting 2 sets of IP add (nameserver) will be alotted, always the same sets. The primary one is alwasy dead and I have to revert their order. Is there a way to fix these 2 sets of IP add on a file. If YES, please advise which file on FC3.

TIA

B.R.

asuming fc3 uses dhclient like fc4, you would make an /etc/dhclient.conf file and tell it not to overwrite resolv.conf. check the dhclient.conf manpage for details.

Hi,

Tks for your advice.

# find / -name dhclient.conf
could not find it.

# find / -name dhclient
/sbin/dhclient

However
$ man dhclient
$ man 5 dhclient.conf
can find their document.

as i suggested above, the file normally doesn't exist by default. you would create it yourself. check that you ARE usiung dhclient of course before doing this.
