how to disable software updater?

My software updater automatically checks for new updates every time I log in to X.
I want the software updater to just manually check for updates. what should I do?

When you log into the X in Fedora Core 6 there is this menu item:

Applications/System Tools/Software Updater

As root on a terminal, you will need to type the following:

Code:
service yum-updatesd stop (This will stop the service from running)

chkconfig --level 345 yum-updatesd off (This will prevent the service from starting on boot-up)
That should do it.
