Question How to boot into command line on Fedora Core 2?

Hi guys,

I'm a Linux newbie... can anyone please explain how to boot into the Linux command line on FC2? I screwed up my display drivers and need to use only the command line to reinstall the correct drivers/settings, but don't know how to make FC2 not boot using the GUI ...

Thank you very much in advance for any help given,

I assume what your saying is that because your display drivers are screwed up it hangs when getting to startx. if so
The best way is to use your #1 install disk and at boot prompt type in linux rescue and follow instructions to where you have to type
in chroot /mnt/sysimage and after that you use the vi editor to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
Hope this helps.

Cool! thanX for the quick help. I'll try this later today ... don't have access from my home Linux box to the internet ... using Win2003@work ...

I tried alt+ctrl+backspace as recommended by another user on ... but this displays the command line for a few seconds and then it is as if the OS automatically tries to switch back to the GUI, because the screen then stops displaying the command line. If I do this like several times message pops up that says this has been done "x" number of times in the past minute, and that it will keep using the screen mode that can display the command line. After a few minutes the process starts over again ...
