How do I install my NEC DVD player/Burner
I've searched this forum for some guidance about installing my external NEC ND-3520A player/Burner with no luck.
It ought to be pretty simple but FC3 doesnt even see the NEC DVD. It doesnt show up anywhere in hardware. It sees my internal CDROM
I thought FC3 would at least recognize that it is connected to my machine??
Any help to get me started woud be appreciated

Hi.
Could you plug it in, then run 'dmesg' and post the last few lines of output?

Hmmm, dmesg isn't showing any signs of seeing the drive. What you're looking for is a few lines with 'sda' in them once the device is plugged in.
It should at least acknowledge that something was plugged in anyway...

Lets try this again.
I checked the USB cable and found it was unplugged; check the simple stuff first !
heres the last few lines of DMESG
mtrr: base(0xc0020000) is not aligned on a size(0x800000) boundary
usb 1-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4
Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
scsi2 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usbcore: registered new driver usb-storage
USB Mass Storage support registered.
usb-storage: device found at 4
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
Vendor: _NEC Model: DVD_RW ND-3520A Rev: 1.04
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 00
usb-storage: device scan complete
sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 48x/48x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi2, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
[root@localhost /]#
The NEC drive shows up aat "sr0" right?
Now what?
If yoiu can help with this, I have a GRUB boot problem you might be able to fix as well.
Thanks for your help Dave

Hi again.
You might have a directory in /media for this drive once it's plugged in (you're using FC3, and therefore HAL, so it should set this up for you when you plug it in). If so, just do 'mount /media/nameOfDirectory' to mount it.
