HELP please! Nautilus has quit! with it, lots more!

Nautilus errors out. From the CLI, I get:
(nautilus:3370): libgnomevfs-CRITICAL **: gnome_vfs_uri_ref: assertion `uri != NULL' failed
There's maybe 30 of those, When nautilus fails, LOTS of things fail with it!. Any ideas, please?

After further investigation, I now suspect this has something to do with gnome-vfs, as there are error messages on the CLI including that. I did remove nautilus, and gnomelibs, and re-install them, to no avail.
Pretty much what I expected. Ideas?
