HELP!!! FEDORA CORE 2 dosnt boot

hello everybody...
please don laugh...i had redhat 7.1 but some one lost the cds...so now i opted for fedora core 2...b'cos ma pc is old and very slow...here is the configuration...

intel celeron 400MHz
AGP: intel 810 chipset 16 MB (shared extendable)
RAM: 192 MB
HDD: 60 GB
MOnitor : ADI provista E33
soundcard: creative vibra 128
NO NETWORK CARD
i have a modem...which woked just fine with my redhat 7.1

now i hav 2 probs... (i am a novice)

1. during the booting process i think it tries 2 start X window..but cant...my monitor displays "signal out of range" then is comes bak to the regular screen...though when i installed the system the x window seemd to work just fine...

2. there is another problem...all the processes gets an OK ... after enabling swap space which also gets an ok..it just hangs...but the cursor blinks...i dont have any idea how to fix it...had seen a mail here...which said to change some entries in the /etc/hosts and /etc/sysconfig/network i did but din work...it had to do with adding a ".net" after the hostname or localhost.

please please i need help and ASAP ... almost a matter of life and death...

ANYBODY...plzzzz i am waiting....this is very important.... :'(
