Help Building a Ram disk image

I am trying to build a image to boot into ram via tftp to another machine, but when i go to boot the machine i get

Warning: unable to open a inital console
Kernel Panic: no init found try passing init=option to the kernel

i build the kernel to support a ram disk, and i am useing FC3

label 0
kernel vmlinuz-2.6.12
append initrd=rootfs.gz ramdisk=65537 root=/dev/ram

Any help would be appeciated.

Thanks

Travis

the command for making a ramdisk image is mkinitrd for the intricacies of how to use the command type man mkinitrd.

But the ram disk holds my operating system not just a startup that points to my operating system. What I need is for the ram disk to hold everything, startup info, and the root file system. The ram disk it transfered over the network and is loading and ran out of ram on a remote machine via tftp.

Edit: Spelling and trying to make it make more sense

travisk,

How did you make the rootfs.gz? I'm trying to do the same thing and I'm googling and see many references to initrd=rootfs.gz but how are you guys making this? Can you provide the steps? Much appreciated. Thank you.
