Ok, very simply, go here :

http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...*&submit=Go%21

Now login as root and install this RPM.

Next reboot your pc.
Now install the 845 patch found here:

http://projects.nudieman.com/500m/

Now run this RPM.
Reboot your PC.
Your Login screen should now be in 1024x786 and graphics should runat their proper speed!

(Note: be sure that all your IDE devices are set at DMA or UDMA  )

Hello beatupbilly,

Thanks for the info. I have a Dell 1100 Inspiron laptop on which I instld Mandriva2007.

I need to know what steps to take now that
I have the two files from your links.

I don't know how to proceed from there.
I don't have a GUI, I only have the command line.
I don't know anything about linux as this is my first attempt to learn linux.

Also, I don't know the command line syntax or what commands I should be using.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Sizz

CentOS 5 runs great on Inspiron 1100

Hey Sizz, CentOS 4 & 5 run right after install on a Inspiron 1100. I have been testing others (Novell, Ubuntu, Solaris, Knoppix) and all others seem to have video issues with the 1100. But RHEL and its stepchild CentOS just work every time on the Inspiron.
