Hardrive image of linux/windows machine


I do not know if this post goes here, but since this is my distribution of choice that to give it a wirle. Here is what i want to do create an image of my laptop harddrive so I can burn when I need to reimage that harddrive. I want to do this so i do not have to reinstall a binch of software. Can anyone help?

I normally use Ghost, if youve got a bootable ghost installation cd use that, then you can either copy the whole disk to image or partition to image, should also give you usb support so you can ghost the image to an external hard drive.then burn to dvd when you get the time or leave it on there. it will give you the choice to restore any partition if you choose the whole disk image.

dont forget that you may have to boot back into linux using the original disk to reinstall lilo or grub [i normally do this anyway, as a precaution]

There are some products here, you can see if they fit your needs, bootitng can be used for free acording to the shareware licence till you install it for the boot manager features. The image can be placed wherever you desire and it is compressed. My 6GB used space has a 1.5GB Image. But you may need to use Image for Linux for existing partitions.
