GUI Login for root

Hello,

I've got Fedora 19 LXDE installed but can't log into the root user from the login screen - just end up with an authentication error.

Googling around I couldn't find much a solution for 19. There's quite a bit for Fedora versions upto 17.

Is there a way to log in as root (GUI) in Fedora 19 LXDE?

Yes, but you don't want to.

see bottom (similar threads), for example this one: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...or-gui-692177/
root is explicitly blocked. You can unblock it, but you should not....

this is getting scary.
But in the current state I can't even setup a new limited user or format a flash disk - everything is SO limited and I'm pretty new to the Fedora commands

you can use single user mode to add a new user.
Even better: press Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get a console, login as root and add new user.
And you can use your GUI as the new user.

Thanks, Pan64.
I managed to setup a new user.

Looks like I still have limitations without a GUI root user.

I'm wanting to setup autologin for the new user I've made and can't figure out how to. Googling comes up with

set auto login with User Accounts tool in System Settings
and I see no User Accounts tool anywhere.
