GRUB hangs on my setup

I'm trying to get Windows XP and Fedora Core 3 to dual boot on my system. I have 2 SATA drives(RAIDed), and 2 IDE hardrives(Not RAIDed) connected on my HPT374 RAID controller.
Each and every time, GRUB hangs... all I see is GRUB and a continous blinking cursor.

I've searched for any combinations of grub, raid, FC3, hang, SATA and a few others and have tried all solutions that have come up. I've tried every possible solution from "linux hda=XXX,YYY,ZZZ" to "sfdisk -d /dev/hdX | sfdisk --no-reread -H255 /dev/hdX" and even reinstalling GRUB to no avail. I've installed GRUB onto it's own boot partition... tried to put both Windows XP and FC3 on RAIDed SATA drives, then tried to put them on separate hard drives. Tried to install FC3 by itself on the RAID and on the non-RAIDed drives. Nothing works. If anyone can offer some help, please share your knowledge, I would really appreciate it. This has wasted 3 of my days . Thanks a bazillion in advance!

list of sites with "possible" solutions I have tried:

P.S. Heck... Knoppix won't even boot on my computer O_O... the little Penguin shows up and it hangs there. Cursor doesn't even blink.

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it! I'll take a good look at the information you've provided. But I may just forget about going RAID since a lot of people have talked me out of doing it
