Grip cdrom error

I am running Grip 3.20 in FC3 I get the error can't initialze dev/cdrom. My cdrom actually a burner is on IDE channel 2 & is the master (I have my DVD player as the slave on the same channel).
1) I tried running Grip in root with the same error
2) I tried running this solution http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...light=grip+FC3
still an error
3) I tried changing the device name in Grip to /dev/hdc still an error
can't initalize /dev/hdc
Any help would be appreciated
P S I used Grip in FC1 without these problems

it's a burner, so is it using ide-scsi eumlation? if so i'd suggest removing it from your bootloader config and burning any cd's directly with the ATAPI interface. this is assuming you're on a 2.6 kernel, and i'm pretty sure fc3 is 2.6 only.

I partially solved my problem:
I changed /dev/cdrom to /dev/hdc
Then I
[joe@localhost ~]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost joe]# chmod 777 /dev/hdc
[root@localhost joe]#
This seems to help untill I log out I then have to do it again
after I the net time I log in.
Any help would be appreciated Joe
