Graphics Problem

I've installed Fedora Core 3 for the first time.

I boot up fine, log in (now remembered the root password), see the desktop fine and happily.

I clicked the applications menu and my computer seemed to be really slow in loading it and then gave up when i came back. Well I fixed that problem by relising you have to hold down the menu like mac!!! (yuck i hate having to keep my mouse button constantly held while i browse).

but when i try to click(well let go) an application to launch it, my screen goes black with like 2 columns of red/green/blue stripes, like some sort of graphics problem.

can somebody please give me some guidence with this, I dont know what to do so that I can use it with any graphics bothering.
(oh, by the way there is no way out of it other than cntrl+alt+del or switch off).
and i cant get to the command line because of this problem, i dont even know where it is in the menu.

What graphics card do you have?

Have you attempted to install any drivers for it? (Like the Nvidia Linux driver?)

What resolution you working in? What color depth?

What application are you trying to start?

If you give more info, ppl might be able to help you more quickly...

it's built in graphics card on the mother board of a dell computer.

i havnt set up the resolution/colour deth etc. and it never promted me so it must of done it automatically during install and thought it was okay.

I thought it was definatly the web browser and all applications, but now i have started several applications and discovered the browser is firefox so it all seems fine.
Maybe giving it a rest shutdown overnight after its instal made it work fine.

I guess I'll let you(the forum community) know if I get the problem again.
