Gnome conflicting with KDE
Greetings! I updated my Fedora 17 yesterday, or got the latest updates I should say. The kernel is 3.7.4-104.fc17 i686. I like to switch between Gnome interface and the KDE interface. Generally when I log on I can choose which interface to use. Well, since this most recent update, I am unable to log into KDE. The flash screen appears for less than a second, then disappears; the little "working icon" is spinning until it takes me directly to the log on screen. I enter my password and the same thing occurs. So, I am able to only enter the Gnome interface. Any suggestions or ideas. Thanks

Start GNOME, open a terminal window, and enter the command startx /usr/bin/startkde -- :1 If that fails to start a KDE session for you, you should get some error messages in your terminal window that might give you a clue. Post them here if you find the clues misleading.

(Verify that /usr/bin/startkde is the correct path on your system with a type -p startkde command.)

Thanks for your help. I tried what you suggested, then I went to see if there was a new updated software. There was a new kernel update and that appears to have corrected the solution. Thanks again.
