Question Gnome CD music player displays "disk error" msg.

Just installed FC5 with web server as the only extra software. After install ran "yum update", shutdown and restarted the computer.
Then I tried to play a music CD. The gnome CD player displays the title and the tracks on the CD but refuses to play the music and gives me the disk error message. I have tried several music CD all have the same result.
This machine also boots Ubuntu using the gnome desktop. Ubuntu will play a CD - no problem.
Just wondering if anybody else has had this problem and if there is fix for it.

I am having EXACTLY the same problem. I installed FC5. And then at some point when I did a software update through the Gnome desktop my gnome-cd player stopped working. It knows the disc title and the tracks, but when I attempt to play a track I get "disc error".

Interestingly, cdda2wav and workbone still read CDs OK.

Same problem in ubuntu

Just upgraded to Ubuntu Dapper by doing a new install. After install ran "update", shutdown and restarted the computer.
Then I tried to play a music CD. The gnome CD player (sound juicer and rythembox) displays the title and the tracks on the CD but refuses to play the music and gives me the following message box.

Code:
Error playing CD.
Reason: Could not get/set settings from/on resource.
I have tried several music CD all have the same result.
When Ubuntu 5 was on the machine it played a CD - no problem.
I did some searching in the linux forums also and found a couple of other guys with the same problem. It appears to a problem with the GNOME Totem player. When I went to uninstall it I found out that the Ubuntu-desktop would be unistalled also. ain't gona do that. So out of curiosity I installed the KDE (kubuntu-desktop) and low and behold I can play audio Cd's in KDE. I guess I'll just have to wait for the next release of Ubuntu to see if the thing gets fixed.
The funny thing is I have a old e-machine that I just installed Dapper on and it plays audio Cd's just fine. Just like breezy did on this machine.
